Ontario supplier since 1964A sit-stand desk is a height-adjustable desk that moves between sitting and standing height, usually on an electric motor. Brant Business Interiors is the Ontario commercial supplier — height-adjustable desks and sit-to-stand workstations from the brands we carry, sold to businesses and institutions since 1964 with delivery and installation across the province.
What you are buying
A sit-stand desk — also called a height-adjustable desk, electric standing desk, or sit-to-stand workstation — raises and lowers so the same person can work seated or standing through the day. Commercial-grade frames carry heavier loads, run quieter dual motors, and hold a programmed height range built for full-day institutional use, not occasional home use.
Buying an office standing desk through Brant Business Interiors means the height range and load are specified to your space, the desk is delivered and installed by our own Ontario crew, and the manufacturer warranty is supported locally — not a box on a pallet you assemble and register yourself. One contact for the quote, the install, and any service after.

Tool · Desk height
A height-adjustable desk only helps if it is set to you. The ergonomic targets below come from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS): set the work surface level with your elbows, the monitor top at or just below eye level, and the seat so your feet are flat and thighs roughly level. Enter your height for a personalised starting point — every figure is an estimate to adjust to comfort.
Estimate your set-up
Enter your height. For the most accurate standing-desk figure, measure your elbow height under “More accurate”.
Your estimated set-up
Standing desk surface
≈ 37–47 in · 95–120 cm
Set it level with your standing elbows — shoulders relaxed, forearms parallel to the floor, elbow about 90° (CCOHS).
Estimate — adjust to comfort
Seated desk surface
≈ 22–30 in · 56–76 cm
Sit with feet flat and thighs level, then set the top at your seated elbow height — forearms parallel, elbow about 90° (CCOHS / BIFMA G1).
Estimate — adjust to comfort
Monitor top (eye level)
≈ 55–70 in · 140–178 cm standing
Put the top of the screen at, or just below, eye level — about an arm’s length away, sight line 0–30° below horizontal. Too high strains more than slightly low (CCOHS).
Estimate — adjust to comfort
Seat height
≈ 16–21 in · 40–53 cm
Raise the seat until your feet rest flat and your thighs are roughly level, knees about 90° — the seat top sits just below your kneecap (CCOHS).
Estimate — adjust to comfort

Common questions
A sit-stand desk is a height-adjustable desk that raises and lowers so the same person can work seated or standing through the day. Commercial models usually use an electric dual-motor base with a programmable height range. They are also called height-adjustable desks, electric standing desks, or sit-to-stand workstations.

A sit-stand desk replaces the whole desk with a height-adjustable frame and top. A desktop riser sits on your existing desk and lifts just the working surface. Risers are a lower-cost way to convert desks you already own; a full sit-stand desk gives a cleaner result and a wider height range.
Set a standing desk level with your elbows when you stand with your shoulders relaxed and your forearms parallel to the floor — roughly 37 to 47 inches (95 to 120 cm) from the floor for most adults, depending on your height. Put the monitor so the top of the screen is at or just below eye level. These are starting points from CCOHS ergonomic guidance; adjust to what feels comfortable. The desk-height calculator on this page estimates your figures from your height.
